Last weekend, Elijah Arroyo went down to Houston, Texas to compete in the IBJJF tournament held there. The IBJJF tournaments held around the world are one of the most respected and prestigious tournaments around. Winning one of these tournaments is tough to do as top competitors come out of the wood work to chase this elusive gold. The first weekend of August marked a first in our gyms 3 year history. Our team went down to a NAGA tournament and took the team gold for the competition. Our team has taken bronze and silver at NAGA tournaments before, so this gold was coming! This gold represents the hard work and dedication of our students on the mats, improving in their skill and confidence while helping their teammates do the same. This is the first of many to come!

On May 10th, Triune traveled to Austin to participate in the NAGA tournament, securing 5th place among more than 100 teams. We are a small but growing gym that consistently competes with larger, more established BJJ gyms in the area. Now, it's time to return to training for the next competition!

May 3rd, 2026 marked the 3rd year from our gym first being opened. Thank you to all who have passed through our doors to visit or join our family!

On May 4th, 2026 we had Professor Mansor come to Triune and give us a seminar on armbar defense and escape. Professor Mansor is the son of Francisco Mansor who recieved his black belt from Helio Gracie himself and is also part of our gyms lineage. We appreciate Professor Mansor for making the trek to Triune and giving us some widsom from his decades of bjj experience.

We have two of our youth students heading down to Houston on Friday for super fights. Both girls have been excelling in the gym and in competition. They have already brought home many medals and belts from the tournaments they attend. They both have a lot of potential and we'll get to see that show cased this Friday in Houston!

Jeremiah and Elijah are both preparing to head to Nevada to compete at two ibjjf Tournaments this weekend. We recently had our annual promotion ceremony. Many students received stripes and we had a hand full of our youth students be promoted to the next belt level. In the adult class most everyone received stripes (with three purple belts being moved to fourth degree, so we might have some new brown belts next year). But we only had two belt promotions. We had the founder of Triune visit and teach at the gym today. Professor Kendrick started Triune out in California back in 2005 where Professor Jimmy and Professor Alex eventually joined and got their black belt under the Triune banner. This past weekend was a busy one for Elijah Arroyo. He competed at the Dallas Jiu-Jitsu World League on Saturday and at the American Grappling Federation in Dallas on Sunday. Triune of Texas BJJ took its annual trip down to Austin, Texas, to participate in Tap Cancer Out. This year, we were awarded a banner from Tap Cancer Out for raising more than $20,000 towards cancer research in the few years we have been attending.
